The VRA Resettlement trust fund has completed and handed over the new teachers quarters at New Somanya in the Easten Region.

Background Information

The New Adjena Resettlement community is located in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern Region.   It shares boundaries with the following Communities.  On the East by the Boabos, on the West by the Gyakitys, on the North by the Anums, and on the South by the Kotropeis.

The area is of Grassland and the soil type is made up of mixture of stones and gravels. It has a population of two thousand, two hundred and twenty-three (2,223) people.  The ethnic distribution of the area is made up of Akans who are indigenous, Ewes, Krobos and Hausas.  The religions of the people are Christianity, Islamic and Traditional religion.  Occupations of the people are crop farming and fish farming.  The environmental degradation in the area is caused by poor drainage system.
